香港國際肝病會議發言人、復旦大學中山醫院肝癌研究中心外科主席及教授湯釗猷教授在2008港滬國際肝病會議開幕典禮中致歡迎辭時表示：「乙肝、丙肝和肝癌在香港和中國非常普遍，臨床醫生經常在前線對抗這可致命的疾病，我們的臨床經驗和研究，不斷為我們提供新的見解，讓我們處理了很多尚未解決的問題，並制定新的治療肝臟疾病的方法。」
Prof. Zhao-You Tang, Professor of surgery and Chairman of Liver Cancer Institute, Fudan University, Zhongshan Hospital stated at the Hong Kong - Shanghai International Liver Congress opening ceremony that "with the high prevalence of liver disease in Hong Kong and China, our clinicians are always at the front lines in battling this often lethal infectious disease. Out clinical experience and research continuously provides us with new insights in addressing many unresolved issues and new methods of managing liver diseases."
亞太區肝病研究會議（APASL)主席及港滬國際肝病會議秘書長廖家傑教授在2008年港滬國際肝病會議開幕典禮上說：「讓全球肝病學專才聚首一堂是APASL主要成就，我深信大家們全年努力不懈的工作和在會議中得到的資料，對亞洲數以百萬計生命帶來深遠影響。國際肝病會計定必是全球肝病學最重要和最高水平的會議。」
At the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong - Shanghai International Liver Congress 2008, Prof. George K.K. Lau, President of Asian Pacific Association for the Study of Liver (APASL) stated, "bringing together some of the world's top minds in the field of herpetology is a major achievement for the Congress. I am confident that our ongoing work throughout the year and the information we disseminate here at this summit will have a major impact on the lives of millions of Asians. This is surely one of the most important and highest level medical meetings of this nature in the world."
香港特別行政區食物及衛生局局長周一嶽醫生在2008年港滬國際肝病會議開幕典禮上指出：「本港政府對肝臟疾病十分關注，已為我們下一代及早預防乙型肝炎。」
Dr. York Chow, Secretary for Food and Health said at the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong-Shanghai International Liver Congress 2008 that "The Government attaches much importance to tackling liver diseases and has taken early action to protect our future generations against hepatitis B infection."
